Feature Wedding – Jessica Barton and Tom Lucas

Feature Wedding – Jessica Barton and Tom Lucas

Nothing could dampen Jessica and Tom’s spirits when they got married on November 22 last year. Not even when New Zealand turned on an overcast day with wind and rain. The newlyweds smiles lit up the grey skies when they said ‘I do’ at Tom’s local church in Torbay on Auckland’s North Shore.

Followed by a reception at Mantells on the Water down on the Auckland City waterfront the newly married couple danced the night away with their family and friends.

“We didn’t want to leave!” Jessica laughed as she shares her memories of their wonderful wedding day.

Small4TELL US ABOUT THE WEDDING DRESS

I wore Michelle Roth’s “Endya” dress. It was customised for a slightly more mermaid shape to give me some curves!

I also had a raw edge finger-tip veil and a fluffy feather cropped jacket. Unfortunately our wedding day was cold, windy and rainy so the jacket came in very handy.

Small3WHAT DID YOUR BRIDESMAIDS WEAR?

The girls wore navy blue full length gowns. They had V-necks with cap sleeves and black glitter. We accessorised the dresses with gorgeous pointy-toed shoes. I wanted them to be glamorous, but comfortable enough to be on their feet and able to party hard on the dance floor all night.

Small6WHAT LOOK DID THE GROOMSMEN GO FOR?

They were in light grey suits with navy ties and black shoes. Tom’s suit was a little darker. He wanted to stand out!

Small1WHAT STYLE OF WEDDING DID YOU GO FOR?

We wanted a simple but classic and timeless look. We didn’t go for any particular style. We just kept the colour scheme based on black, white and navy. Everything else fell in around that.

Small2TELL US ABOUT THE BRIDAL BOUQUET?

I had white roses with a touch of green. I didn’t want the flowers to draw attention away from the intricate detail of my wedding gown. I wanted the dress to be the first thing you noticed.

Small7WHAT GIFTS DID YOU GIVE TO YOUR GUESTS?

Everyone received chocolate fortune cookies with personalised messages and lucky sayings and quotes inside. I have Chinese ancestry so it was a way that I could incorporate that into the wedding.

WHERE DID YOU GO FOR THE HONEYMOON?

Bay of Islands, New Zealand. The most beautiful place in the world!

TOP THREE MOMENTS

1. Seeing Tom’s face as I walked down the aisle
2. The speeches were fantastic! They were all amazing, hilarious, well-written and well-spoken.
3. Dancing all night. We didn’t want to leave!
